BEGINNER FREESTYLE & BACKSTROKE: The Puffer level introduces the fundamentals of Freestyle and Backstroke to the swimmer who has developed a comfortable breathing pattern in the water. The key focus of the class is to combine the breathing techniques from the Silver/Goldfish level with a technically sound freestyle stroke. Proper posture and body rotation are emphasized on both the stomach and the back. Safety skills are continued through a variety of drills. The lesson is 30 minutes in length and the student to teacher ratio is 4:1.
This is the correct choice for your child if:
- If they have a solid understanding of breath control, exhale/inhale air exchange
- If they have basic survival skills mastered and learned in Silver/Goldfish
- If they need to learn to independently kick on their back
- If they need to learn how to coordinate breathing with a freestyle stroke to be able to swim the length of the pool
Graduates of this level move on to the EEL Level.
